Happy Full Moon In Capricorn
Full Moon In Capricorn – What Are You Trying To Achieve?
On July 13th, 2022 we have a Full Moon at 21° Capricorn. This is one of the most intense Full Moons of the year – it is conjunct Pluto, opposite Mercury, trine Uranus, and square Chiron.
Even if the Moon in Capricorn is normally in control of her emotions, at this particular Full Moon, spirits run high.
We might find ourselves more argumentative (Full Moon opposite Mercury), or acting out on our wounded feelings (Full Moon square Chiron).
Full Moon In Capricorn – What Am I Trying To Achieve?
As with any Capricorn lunation, the big question is “What am I trying to achieve?” Capricorn is our higher self, the adult inside each one of us.
It’s ok to be brutally honest (Full Moon conjunct Pluto) or to have difficult conversations (Full Moon opposite Mercury) as long as we don’t lose sight of our goal.
But brutal honesty without a goal is harmful, and difficult conversations without an outcome, only create disruption and resentment.
Whatever you do, ask yourself “Will this get me closer or farther away from my goal?”. Let’s say you have a conflict with your manager. There is a power imbalance – they are taking advantage of their authority.
For a while, you go along with the situation, hoping things will change. But things don’t change. And there comes a time where this power dynamic can no longer be ignored.
The Full Moon in Capricorn conjunct Pluto will ask you to “do something”, to take the helm – attention: not from an “I overpower you and get my way”, but from a “I want to reach the best possible outcome”.
At the Full Moon, the awareness of your goal, of what you’re trying to achieve might bring you the much-needed clarity, but might also frighten you. Pluto always stirs our deepest fears. The next question is “What are you afraid of?”.
Capricorn rules competence and status. If a Full Moon in Capricorn is afraid of something, she’s afraid of “loosing face”, of looking incompetent, vulnerable or of a lower status.
But these fears of not being ‘good enough’ are exactly what stop us from achieving our greatest potential.
Full Moon In Capricorn – A General Accepting Defeat
The Sabian Symbol of the Full Moon in Capricorn is “By accepting a defeat gracefully, a general reveals nobility of character”.
The Sabian symbol doesn’t necessarily mean that the Full Moon will come with losses and defeat. What the Sabian symbol suggests is that we only grow when we accept our weaknesses and limitations.
One of the basic truths of life is that we can’t win all the time. We may be the best in the world in one particular field, but we can’t be #1 at everything.
There are people out there who are better than us. There are areas where we might be overconfident or misjudge our capabilities.
Getting to know where we stand is an invaluable insight. Our current limitations point to areas that need our attention – areas where, if we pour enough Capricorn hard work and discipline, we can eventually develop into our greatest skills.
The author of the “Growth Mindset” theory, Carol Dwek, said it best:
“In a fixed mindset students believe their basic abilities, their intelligence, their talents, are just fixed traits. They have a certain amount and that’s that, and then their goal becomes to look smart all the time and never look dumb. In a growth mindset students understand that their talents and abilities can be developed through effort, good teaching and persistence. They don’t necessarily think everyone’s the same or anyone can be Einstein, but they believe everyone can get smarter if they work at it.”
Just like “accepting defeat” reveales “nobility of character”, at the Full Moon in Capricorn our humbleness is the source of our greatest strength.
At the Full Moon in Capricorn, ask yourself:
- What am I trying to achieve?
- What I am afraid of?
- Why am I afraid of it?
- What stands between me and my goal? Where do I need to grow, improve and apply Capricorn perseverance?
